Universal Life Church

A friend of mine opened his wife's underwear drawer and picked up a silk paper wrapped package:

'This, - he said - isn't any ordinary package.'

He unwrapped the box and stared at both the silk paper and the box.

'She got this the first time we went to New York , 8 or 9 years ago.. She has never put it on , was saving it for a special occasion.

Well, I guess this is it.

He got near the bed and placed the gift box next to the other clothing he was taking to the funeral house, his wife had just died..

He turned to me and said:

'Never save something for a special occasion.

Every day in your life is a special occasion'.

I still think those words changed my life..

Now I read more and clean less.

I sit on the porch without worrying about anything.

I spend more time with my family, and less at work.

I understood that life should be a source of experience to be lived up to, not survived through.

I no longer keep anything.

I use crystal glasses every day....

I'll wear new clothes to go to the supermarket, if I feel like it.

I don't save my special perfume for special occasions, I use it whenever I want to..

The words 'Someday...' and ' One Day....' are fading away from my dictionary.

If it's worth seeing, listening or doing, I want to see, listen or do it now........

I don't know what my friend's wife would have done if she knew she wouldn't be there the next morning, this nobody can tell.

I think she might have called her relatives and closest friends.
She might call old friends to make peace over past quarrels.

I'd like to think she would go out for Chinese, her favorite food.

It's these small things that I would regret not doing, if I knew my time had come.

Each day, each hour, each minute, is special...

Live for today, for tomorrow is promised to no-one.

Kind Words

Hi Amy,
Sending "nice things to say" into our emails was a Wonderful Idea!
Also~~~ long before Americans asked for a Consumer Financial Protection Agency, I was going "one on one" with a Financial Business. The Business did everything in its power to "get me out of the way". Fortunately individuals with in my State Government came to my aid, and when I became ordained, more people rushed to help a Reverend. NOW, the entire country wants to prevent these type of Businesses from ripping off its customers.
It feels really wonderful to see such great change coming to our world. But this is only the beginning Amy. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!

WHY I BECAME A MINISTER

People often asked me if I became a minister because my family is FULL of them.  My answer is, "No".

I became a minister because I believe there is more to "religion" than what I was taught growing up.  I don't believe that the so called "Christian" way is the only way and I believe that different "civilizations" for lack of a better word, worship the same "God" in their own way; the main thing is that we are all looking for that "Spiritual" connection and it is done in different ways in different places.

I became a minister because I feel there is a need for compassion and a desire to reach out to those who have been "thrown to the wolves" from churches and so called "christian" families because their belief and/or lifestyle does not fit the "norm" of things.

I believe that a minister must have an open mind, an open heart, an open soul, and a true compassion for those who need to find their "spiritual" path and to help guide them while on their spiritual journey.

I believe the ministry has no place for ministers who are close-minded or have their own agenda for their own glory and that is why I left the "mainstream" ministry.  That is why I have begun the process and work of starting Universal Fellowship, a Universal Life Church, in Baltimore, MD.

I believe in Jesus as God's son, others believe him to be a prophet who God gave supernatural powers to.  I believe that God is our ultimate goal and however one gets there…of course I am not including evil in this picture because God is not evil…God is love.  Sometimes he allows us to go through things to help our "character" grow, things that we all think we could do without.  I know there have been many things I would have rather not gone through, but I did, and I matured one way or another.  I think it all depends on how we "go through it".  A wise man once told me that you determine your outcome.  You can take what you are given with a grain of salt and allow that grain of salt to clean you of what you need to be cleaned of and come out "sweet smelling" and one that others will enjoy being around, or you can allow the situation to make you a bitter, angry person and ultimately cause you to be a very lonely and miserable person, it all depends on you.

I have been that bitter, anger, miserable, lonely person, and I didn't like it one bit!  I asked God for guidance and help, and even though I did not like the answers I got from the people He sent me to help me through it, instead of giving up, I took it with that grain of salt, let it work its way through and I became the better person for it.  Don't get me wrong, I still have days when I'm not all that sweet, but you know what?  God still loves me and that's all that matters…and that's the message I have been given to share.  When it comes down to it, a true minister is one who has been called by God to give a message, like the prophets of old, and my message is, no matter what you have done, who you are, or where you are, God loves you and wants you to come home.  Like the father and the prodigal son!

            Blessings to all,

God's Busy

0AIf you don't know GOD, don't make stupid remarks!!!!!!!

A United States Marine was attending some college courses between assignments..
He had completed missions in Iraq and
Afghanistan . One of the courses had a professor who was an avowed atheist and
a member of the ACLU.

One day the professor shocked the class when he came in he looked to the
ceiling and flatly stated, 'God, if you are
real, then I want you to knock me off this platform. I'll give you exactly 15
minutes.'  The lecture room fell silent.
You could hear a pin drop.&nbs p;

Ten minutes went by and the professor proclaimed, 'Here I am God. I'm still
waiting.' It got down to the last couple
of minutes when the Marine got out of his chair, went up to the professor, and
cold-cocked him, knocking him off the
platform. The professor was out cold.

The Marine went back to his seat and sat there, silently. The other students
were shocked, stunned, and sat there
looking on in silence.  The professor eventually came to, noticeably shaken,
looked at the Marine and asked, 'What the
heck is the matter with you? Why did you do that?'

                                             &nbs p;

The Marine calmly replied, 'God was too busy today protecting American soldiers
who are protecting your right to say
stupid stuff and act like an idiot. So, He sent me.'

THIS IS GOOD. KEEP IT GOING

God's Wife
LOOK OUT FOR THE LAST STORY....IT WILL KNOCK YOUR SOCKS OFF
Author and lecturer Leo Buscaglia once talked about a contest he was asked to judge. The purpose of the contest was to find the most caring child.
The winner was:
A four-year-old child, whose next door neighbor was an elderly gentleman, who had recently lost his wife. Upon seeing the man cry, the little boy went into the old gentleman's yard, climbed onto his lap, and just sat there.
When his mother asked him what he had said to the neighbor, the little boy just said, 'Nothing, I just helped him cry.'   (This one is for each of you is a soulmate to anyone and everyone....we need you and your empathy/compassion...)
*********************************************
Teacher Debbie Moon's first graders were discussing a picture of  a family One little boy in the picture had a different hair color than the other members. One of her students suggested that he was adopted.
A little girl said, 'I know all about adoption, I was adopted..'
'What does it mean to be adopted?', asked another child.
'It means', said the girl, 'that you grew in your mommy's heart instead of her tummy!'   (This one is for all mothers, grandmothers, aunts, and 'moms at heart'....'teachers,' need I go on?)
*********************************************
On my way home one day, I stopped to watch a Little League base ball game that was being played in a park near my home. As I sat down behind the bench on the first-base line, I asked one of the boys what the score was
'We're behind 14 to nothing,' he answered with a smile.
'Really,' I said. 'I have to say you don't look very discouraged.'
'Discouraged?', the boy asked with a puzzled look on his face...
'Why should we be discouraged? We haven't been up to bat yet.'  (This is for all my sports-minded friends...)
*********************************************
Whenever I'm disappointed with my spot in  life, I stop and think about little Jamie
Jamie was trying out for a part in the school play. His mother told  me that he'd set his heart on being in it, though she feared he would not be chosen.
On the day the parts were awarded, I went with her to collect him after school. Jamie rushed up to her, eyes shining with pride and excitement.  'Guess what, Mom,' he shouted, and then said those words that will remain a lesson to me.....'I've been chosen to clap and cheer.'   (This one is for all my fine arts people who work with children. May children NEVER be told they can be the 'pine trees' in the Christmas program....)
*********************************************
An eye witness account from New York City , on a cold day in December, some years ago: A little boy, about 10-years-old, was standing before a shoe store on the roadway, barefooted, peering through the window, and shivering with cold.
A lady approached the young boy and said, 'My, but you're in such deep thought staring in that window!'
'I was asking God to give me a pair of shoes,'was the boy's reply.
The lady took him by the hand, went into the store, and asked the clerk to get half a dozen pairs of socks for the boy. She then asked if he could give her a basin of water and a towel. He quickly brought them to her.
She took the little fellow to the back part of the store and, removing her gloves, knelt down, washed his little feet, and dried them with the towel.
By this time, the clerk had returned with the socks. Placing a pair upon the boy's feet, she purchased him a pair of shoes.
She tied up the remaining pairs of socks and gave them to him.. She patted him on the head and said, 'No doubt, you will be more comfortable now.'
As she turned to go, the astonished kid caught her by the hand, and looking up into her face, with tears in his eyes, asked her.
'Are you God's wife?'

THE WET PANTS

Come with me to a third grade classroom.....

There is a nine-year-old kid sitting at his desk and all of a sudden, there is a puddle between his feet and the front of his pants are wet.

He thinks his heart is going to stop because he cannot possibly imagine how this has happened. It's never happened before, and he knows that when the boys find out he will never hear the end of it. When the girls find out, they'll never speak to him again as long as he lives!

The boy believes his heart is going to stop! He puts his head down and prays this prayer, 'Dear God, this is an emergency! I need help now! Five minutes from now I'm dead meat.'

He looks up from his prayer and here comes the teacher with a look in her eyes that says he has been discovered.

As the teacher is walking toward him, a classmate named Susie is carrying a goldfish bowl that is filled with water.

Susie trips in front of the teacher and inexplicably dumps the bowl of water in the boy's lap.

The boy pretends to be angry, but all the while is saying to himself, 'Thank you, Lord! Thank you, Lord!'

Now all of a sudden, instead of being the object of ridicule, the boy is the object of sympathy.

The teacher gathers him up and rushes him downstairs. Then she gives him a pair of gym shorts to put on while his pants dry out.

Mean while, all the other children are on their hands and knees cleaning up around the boy's desk.

The sympathy is wonderful. But as life would have it, the ridicule that should have been his has been transferred to someone else - Susie.

Susie tries to help the other kids, but they tell her to get out. "You've done enough, you klutz!"

Finally, at the end of the day, as they are waiting for the bus, the boy walks over to Susie and whispers, 'You did that on purpose, didn't you?'

Susie whispers back to him, 'I wet my pants once too!'

May God help us see the opportunities that are always around us to do good..

Remember.....Just going to church doesn't make you a Christian any more than standing in your garage makes you a car.

Each and everyone one of us is going through tough times right now, but God is getting ready to bless us all in a way that only He can.

Keep your faith in Him and He will continually Bless you, and watch out for you!

STROKE: Remember The 1st Three Letters.... S.T.R.

My nurse friend sent this and encouraged me to post it and spread the word. I agree.

If everyone can remember something this simple, we could save some folks. Seriously..

Please read:

STROKE IDENTIFICATION:
During a BBQ, a friend stumbled and took a little fall - she assured everyone that she was fine (they offered to call paramedics) ......she said she had just tripped over a brick because of her new shoes.

They got her cleaned up and got her a new plate of food. While she appeared a bit shaken up, Ingrid went about enjoying herself the rest of the evening.

Ingrid's husband called later telling everyone that his wife had been taken to the hospital - (at 6:00 pm Ingrid passed away.) She had suffered a stroke at the BBQ. Had they known how to identify the signs of a stroke, perhaps Ingrid would be with us today. Some don't die.... they end up in a helpless, hopeless condition instead.

It only takes a minute to read this...

A neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke victim within 3 hours he can totally reverse the effects of a stroke... totally . He said the trick was getting a stroke recognized, diagnosed, and then getting the patient medically cared for within 3 hours, which is tough.
RECOGNIZING A STROKE
Thank God for the sense to remember the "3" steps, STR . Read and Learn!

Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify. Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster. The stroke victim may suffer severe brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke
.

Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions:
S * Ask the individual to SMILE.
T * Ask the person to TALK and SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE (Coherently)
(i.e. It is sunny out today)

R * Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS.
If he or she has trouble with ANY ONE of these tasks, call 999/911 immediately and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher.
New Sign of a Stroke -------- Stick out Your Tongue
NOTE: Another 'sign' of a stroke is this: Ask the person to 'stick' out his tongue.. If the tongue is 'crooked', if it goes to one side or the other , that is also an indication of a stroke.

The Farmer's Donkey....

One day a farmer's donkey fell into an abandoned well.  The animal cried piteously for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do. Finally, he decided the animal was too old and the well needed to be covered up anyway; so it just wasn't worth it to him to try to retrieve the donkey.

He invited all his neighbors to come over and help him.  They each grabbed a shovel and began to shovel dirt into the well. Realizing what was happening, the donkey at first cried and wailed horribly.

Then, a few shovel-fulls later, he quieted down completely.  The farmer peered down into the well, and was astounded by what he saw. With every shovel-full of dirt that hit his back, the donkey would shake it off and take a step up on the new layer of dirt.

As the farmer's neighbors continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal, he would shake it off and take a step up.  Pretty soon, the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well and trotted off, to the shock and astonishment of everyone.

The Moral: Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds of dirt. The trick to getting out of the well is to stop wailing, and not let the dirt bury you, but to shake it off and take a step up.  Each one of our troubles is a stepping-stone.  We can get out of the deepest wells just by not stopping, never giving up! Shake it off and take a step up.

Remember the five simple rules to be happy:
Free your heart from hatred. Free your mind from worries. Live simply. Give more. Expect less.

By the way, after he calmed down, the donkey kicked the crap out of the farmer who tried to bury him, which brings us to the second moral of this story:
When you try to cover your ass, you will always get your ass kicked.

Kind Words

Amy,

Just letting you know that the replacement certificates arrived today. To my astonishment was a forth certificate being a Religious Title of "Saint".

I opened the package with my wife sitting beside me and she watched me go through the first three and then watched my jaw drop when I saw the forth one.

She watched me get all choked up and then she wiped a tear from my eye. Amy the words "thank you" fail to express my appreciation.

Due to the tears streaming down my face and the emotional state that my mind is currently experiencing my words are failing me.

I wrote you a rather long drawn out reply to your previous message in which I respectfully declined your generous offer of a Religious Title.

I am already deeply humbled and honored to hold the title of Reverend and once the Chaplaincy Program is complete, to hold the title and office of Chaplain.

Amy, my mind is racing and struggling to comprehend this...
